This journey began as the dream of one Benjamin Thornton who had an extensive history with the location under a lot of the names that it held. The one he connected with the most was The Dam Bar (Version 1 - If you know, you know.), owned by the Beauchaines some years ago. He worked for them for many years and continued to work at the bar under new ownership with the late Bernie LaVelle. Ben developed an attachment to the bar as if it was a second home for him. This turned into a desire to make it his own.

In 2022, he partnered with his fiancé Bree Gustavson and friend Angel Sendejo to make this dream a reality. After many grueling months of working out the details in purchasing the property and getting everything sorted out, the dream came to life on October 17, 2022. The doors to The Dam Bar were finally open!

After almost two years of great times at The Dam after opening, we sadly lost Ben in an accident. His best friend and best man, Dewey Neal, stepped in to help ensure that this dream stays alive and becomes a great success in his absence.

Ben’s dream was to make ‘The Dam Bar’ a household name again, of course. But it was more so to create a home away from home for all, a safe place to be oneself and be welcomed with open arms, and just an all-around fun place to be.
